Which Gulf residence permit are you travelling with?
“GCC resident” describes several different documents. A Saudi Iqama, a Qatar residence permit and a Kuwait residence permission are not passports, and they should not be entered as your nationality. Identify the issuing state, the category of residence and the remaining validity before choosing an Azerbaijan visa route.
The central Azerbaijan airport guidance lists holders of residence permits with more than six months of validity from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait among those eligible for an airport visa of up to 30 days. The Saudi embassy also specifically identifies qualifying Iqama holders. Confirm that your document and travel date fit the applicable arrangement.
| Where you reside | What to check |
|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia | Your current Iqama, remaining validity on arrival, passport and airline’s document check. |
| Qatar | The dated resident arrangement, residence category and remaining validity. Its published travel period needs attention. |
| Oman, Bahrain or Kuwait | The issuing state and residence validity against the airport arrangement; do not substitute a visitor visa. |
| United Arab Emirates | A separately published UAE resident route includes passport-validity and nationality exclusions. Use the UAE resident guide. |
Check permit validity against arrival, not today
A residence permit with sufficient time remaining when you start researching may have insufficient time left when you travel. Put the intended arrival date beside the permit expiry date. If a rule requires more than six months, do not assume exactly six months meets it.
Qatar’s embassy notice describes temporary or permanent residence permits with at least six months of validity for a 30-day single-entry tourist visa at international airports, for travel from 15 February 2026 to 15 February 2027. The central guidance uses a stricter “more than six months” formulation. Confirm a boundary case and recheck any travel after the notice’s end date.
Visa-free concessions for citizens of Gulf states are a different subject. A Pakistani citizen with a Saudi Iqama is not a Saudi citizen. The temporary concessions published for certain Gulf passports must not be applied to all foreign residents of those states.
When is an advance e-Visa an option?
The e-Visa check still starts with nationality. Indian and Pakistani ordinary passports are among the eligible passports. An applicant who prefers to arrange a visa before departure can assess that passport-based route, even while separately considering whether the residence arrangement applies.
If your nationality is not eligible, an Iqama or another Gulf residence document does not automatically add it to the online list. You may have an applicable airport route, or need consular advice. Check this before entering payment details; selecting a different nationality in a form cannot change the passport you will travel with.
For example, an Indian Iqama holder planning a meeting in Baku should check both the passport route and the actual travel purpose. A family visiting on holiday should check each person’s residence document, not just the sponsor’s Iqama. A traveller on a Gulf visit visa should avoid assuming a rule for residents covers that document.
Use the passport eligibility checker, then read the relevant India or Pakistan guide for the citizenship-specific details.
A practical checklist before leaving the Gulf
- Confirm the actual entry route. Keep a record of the passport, residence permission and conditions on which you are relying. Check a connecting itinerary with your airline.
- Use arrival in Azerbaijan as the planning date. Your flight can leave Riyadh, Doha or Muscat on one date and land in Baku on the next.
- For an e-Visa, prepare the passport image. Our form accepts JPG, JPEG or PNG up to 10 MB. Keep the full photo page readable and use the same passport for travel.
- Complete the correct address fields. Your home address and your place of accommodation in Azerbaijan serve different purposes. Use real, current information.
- Check everyone before paying. A sponsor, partner and children can have different passports and residence expiry dates.
Our advance e-Visa packages are $59 Standard or $99 Urgent per applicant in USD. These are evis.az service totals. They do not price an Iqama-based airport visa or create residence-based eligibility. Review the application checklist when you have chosen the e-Visa route.

Questions from Gulf residents
Can a Saudi Iqama replace my passport?
No. It is evidence of residence. You still need the travel passport or document required for your journey, and an e-Visa application must match that document.
Does a Qatar residence permit give me visa-free entry?
The resident notice describes a visa on arrival, which is different from visa-free entry. Check the dated arrangement and your documents. Qatar citizenship is another category.
Can I use the e-Visa route if my residence has too little validity?
Check your passport nationality separately. If it is eligible and the passport and travel requirements are met, assess an advance application on that basis. A short-validity residence permit does not itself establish e-Visa eligibility.
Can I choose Urgent for an entire family?
Choose the appropriate package for every applicant and review each record. The family guide explains how to add travellers and compare the combined price before payment.
