Azerbaijan e-Visa for Austrian Citizens
Whether Baku is the destination or a stop between flights, first decide if you will enter Azerbaijan. Austrian guidance distinguishes an airside transfer from formal entry; that decision comes before selecting a visa package.

The short answer
Do Austrian citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan?
Austrian ordinary passport holders normally need a visa to enter Azerbaijan and are eligible for an online e-Visa. Austria’s Foreign Ministry distinguishes a transfer that stays airside from a journey involving formal entry. The normal e-Visa permits one entry and up to 30 days within a 90-day window.

Three checks for your Austrian passport
Check whether the connection stays airside
Collecting baggage, entering for an overnight stay or changing the transfer arrangement can turn a connection into formal entry. Confirm the carrier’s handling.
Prepare minors’ travel permissions
Austrian country advice discusses written consent and supporting documents for minors travelling without both legal representatives. This is separate from the visa.
Clarify a Notpass before choosing the form
Austria’s advice mentions emergency-passport travel, but acceptance of a document does not automatically establish eligibility for this ordinary-passport electronic route.

A Baku airport connection is not always a visit to Azerbaijan
Austria’s Foreign Ministry says no visa is necessary if the airport transit area is not left, while formal entry requires a visa. Before buying a package for a connection, ask the airline whether baggage will be checked through and whether the entire transfer can remain airside. A short gap between flights is not, by itself, proof of an airside arrangement.
If you intend to collect a bag, leave the airport, stay at a landside hotel or make a transfer that requires immigration clearance, assess the entry permission before departure. A city stopover is an entry even if you return to the airport the same day. Describe the actual transfer when checking with the carrier rather than asking only whether Baku is a transit point.
Prepare the Reisepass and calculate from the visa end date
Austrian entry advice identifies a passport as the travel document for Azerbaijan. Prepare the passport identity page, rather than a Personalausweis or a driving-licence scan. Use that passport’s number in the form and review surname and given names against the same page.
For the electronic visa, the passport must extend at least three months beyond the visa expiry. This can be later than three months after the end of a short holiday, so do not substitute the return-flight date in the calculation. Complete renewal first if a new passport will be used, then replace any old document number saved with the booking.

Prepare consent documents separately from a child’s visa
Austria’s country advice describes additional consent documentation for minors travelling without both legal representatives, alongside the child’s own passport. It also discusses supporting identity and relationship papers. Check the current requirements for the particular adult accompanying the child before departure.
The visa application remains an individual passport record for each child. Do not upload the parent’s passport as the child’s identity page, or assume that a family booking turns one visa into group permission. Keep the consent paperwork available for the journey separately from the visa PDF and verify the name and passport number in each child’s result.
Emergency passports and recovered lost documents need another check
The Austrian advice includes information about the cream-coloured Notpass. That is not confirmation that every emergency document can use this ordinary-passport e-Visa form, or that a visa issued against an earlier passport remains valid. Confirm the document and visa arrangement with the relevant representation before selecting a routine package.
It also cautions against travelling on a passport reported lost or stolen and subsequently recovered. Finding the document does not prove it has become usable again in border systems. If a loss or replacement occurs after application, resolve the travel-document status and any required visa change before trying to board.
Choose the package after confirming that entry is required
For a qualifying visit, Standard is $59 USD per applicant with a three-working-day processing window. Urgent is $99 USD in total with a three-hour option through weekends and holidays. These are USD service packages, not EUR quotations. Account for preparing complete documents and receiving the result as well as the processing period.
Use the local Azerbaijan arrival date and compare the issued PDF before flying. Print the visa for the matching passport. A later return into Baku after leaving Azerbaijan is a second entry, which is not supplied by unused days on a single-entry visa. For stays exceeding 15 days, confirm place-of-stay registration with the hotel or host separately.

Your Austrian passport application checklist
- Airside transfer versus formal entry confirmed with the carrier.
- Current Austrian passport and readable identity-page image.
- Passport validity calculated beyond the visa end date.
- Any emergency, lost or replacement document situation resolved.
- Individual child passports and any required travel-consent papers.
- Local arrival, accommodation, accessible email and USD package total.
Check passport expiry against the visa's expiry date: the passport must remain valid for at least three months after that date. The 90-day visa window does not allow a 90-day stay; the maximum stay is 30 days.

Questions from Austrian travellers
Does an Austrian need an e-Visa for an airside Baku connection?
Austria’s Foreign Ministry distinguishes remaining in the transit area from formal entry. Confirm the actual baggage and transfer arrangements with the carrier. If the connection requires immigration clearance or you leave the airport, assess the required entry permission before travelling.
What if I have to collect baggage during a Baku self-transfer?
Do not assume the journey stays airside. Ask the airline whether collecting and rechecking the baggage requires formal entry and check the visa arrangement accordingly. A short connection time does not remove an entry requirement.
Can I use this standard form with an Austrian Notpass?
Confirm the correct route for the exact emergency document first. Austrian advice discussing Notpass acceptance does not establish that this routine electronic application is suitable or that a visa linked to an earlier passport transfers.
Does a child travelling with one Austrian parent need more than a visa?
Check the separate travel-consent and supporting-document requirements. Austrian country advice discusses these for minors without both legal representatives. The child still needs an individual passport-based visa application where a visa is required.
Can I travel on a passport I reported lost and then recovered?
Do not assume it is usable. Austrian advice cautions against using recovered lost or stolen documents because border-system problems can remain. Resolve the document’s status and any associated visa issue before departure.
What are the Standard and Urgent package prices for Austrian applicants?
The Standard package is $59 USD per applicant; Urgent is $99 USD per applicant. These are the total evis.az application service package prices. Choose either package to carry its processing option and total into the application form.
