The short answer
Do Belgian citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan?
Belgian ordinary passport holders normally need a visa in advance and are eligible for Azerbaijan’s e-Visa route. The usual electronic visa permits one entry and up to 30 days within a 90-day window. An eID, Kids-ID or Belgian residence card does not replace the passport needed for this application.

Find each traveller’s passport
Belgian identity cards have travel uses in some countries, but they are not a universal replacement for a passport outside those arrangements.
Prepare the child’s own record
A Kids-ID and an adult’s visa do not establish the child’s Azerbaijan passport-and-visa arrangement. Review each child individually.
Clarify Belgian–Azerbaijani nationality
Belgian travel advice says Azerbaijan treats people who also hold Azerbaijani nationality as Azerbaijani. Clarify entry obligations before using foreign-visitor guidance.

An eID or Kids-ID is not a worldwide passport substitute
Belgian government guidance explains that the eID and Kids-ID are accepted for travel only in the destinations that recognise them. A family accustomed to using cards for European holidays should review the Azerbaijan documents afresh. For this e-Visa route, use the identity page of the passport that will be carried.
Do not upload a residence card or Kids-ID instead of the passport page. Read the passport number separately from a national-register number or a number saved in an eID record. If the passport has been renewed since the last trip, replace the old scan and number in the travel folder before completing the form.
Prepare children’s visas and parental travel documents separately
Each child needs an individual application linked to the child’s own passport. Belgian advice on travelling with minors distinguishes the passport or identity-document requirement from possible parental authorisation and proof of the relationship. One adult’s visa does not cover a child, and a shared surname should not be used as a reason to skip the child’s document checks.
If a child travels with one parent, a guardian or another adult, check current destination and carrier requirements before departure. Belgian guidance notes that a birth certificate can help establish the relationship where surnames differ. Those travel papers are separate from the passport identity-page image requested in the online visa form; keep each task in the correct part of your preparation.
Start with Belgium already selected.
Belgian citizenship, residence and Azerbaijani nationality are different cases
Use the nationality of the passport presented for this journey. A person living in Belgium on a foreign passport should not select Belgium just because the address or residence permit is Belgian. Assess the actual passport’s eligibility and any qualifying residence-based entry arrangement before choosing an application route.
Belgian travel advice specifically says that travellers who also have Azerbaijani citizenship are regarded as Azerbaijani by the local authorities. That situation requires clarification beyond a routine foreign-tourist e-Visa guide. Do not assume that choosing a Belgian passport in a web form settles nationality-related entry and exit obligations.
Keep passport validity, allowed stay and registration distinct
The Belgian Azerbaijan advice ties passport validity to the expiry of the visa: allow at least three months beyond that date. A passport lasting through a short holiday is not automatically sufficient. Read the visa end date and the maximum stay separately; the normal 90-day window does not allow a 90-day stay.
For visits exceeding 15 days, ask who will arrange place-of-stay registration. A hotel may handle it, but confirm rather than assuming a booking or issued visa is the registration itself. For a private rental, establish the process with the host. If staying near the threshold or changing accommodation, check the current registration rules for the exact dates.
Compare USD totals and check the delivered visa before flying
Standard is $59 USD per applicant with a three-working-day processing window. Urgent is $99 USD as a separate total with a three-hour option including weekends and holidays. These are not EUR prices. Review the selected package for each family member and the actual payment currency before checkout.
Choose the local Azerbaijan arrival from the final flight segment and leave time for a complete application to be reviewed and processed. When the PDF is issued, compare every name and passport number and print the matching visa. If the trip includes leaving Azerbaijan and returning, review the return-entry permission separately; a single-entry visa cannot simply be reused.
Keep these to hand
Your Belgian passport application checklist
- Current passport for every adult and child, with a readable identity page.
- Passport number checked separately from eID and national-register details.
- Any Belgian–Azerbaijani nationality issue clarified before applying.
- Parental travel documents assessed where a child travels with one parent or another adult.
- Passport expiry, local arrival and allowed stay checked together.
- Accommodation, registration responsibility and a reachable delivery email.
Check passport expiry against the visa's expiry date: the passport must remain valid for at least three months after that date. The 90-day visa window does not allow a 90-day stay; the maximum stay is 30 days.
Prepare a readable passport image and the details in the full document and passport checklist.

Questions from Belgian travellers
Can a Belgian child use a Kids-ID for this Azerbaijan e-Visa application?
Prepare the child’s own passport and its identity-page image for this route. A Kids-ID has destination-specific uses and should not be treated as a universal passport substitute. Each child also needs an individual application.
Does my Belgian residence card make me eligible as Belgian?
No. Select the nationality of the passport that will be used. Residence in Belgium and Belgian citizenship are different, and any residence-based exception needs its own check.
What if I hold both Belgian and Azerbaijani nationality?
Clarify the entry and exit obligations for that situation before applying as an ordinary foreign visitor. Belgian advice states that Azerbaijan regards people who also hold Azerbaijani citizenship as Azerbaijani.
What should Belgian families check when a child has a different surname?
Review passport details and any parental-authorisation or relationship documents required for the journey. Belgian guidance notes that a birth certificate can help demonstrate the relationship. These papers are separate from the child’s individual visa application.
Does the e-Visa automatically register my stay at a Belgian-booked hotel?
No. A visa, a booking and place-of-stay registration are different records. For a stay over 15 days, confirm that the accommodation provider completes the required registration or arrange the appropriate process separately.
What are the Standard and Urgent package prices for Belgian applicants?
The Standard package is $59 USD per applicant; Urgent is $99 USD per applicant. These are the total evis.az application service package prices. Choose either package to carry its processing option and total into the application form.
