Azerbaijan e-Visa for Bulgarian Citizens

The short answer
Do Bulgarian citizens need a visa to visit Azerbaijan?
Holders of ordinary Bulgarian passports need a visa for Azerbaijan and are eligible for the e-Visa route. Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry distinguishes ordinary passports from diplomatic and service documents. The usual electronic visa permits one entry and up to 30 days within its 90-day window; use the dates on the visa actually issued.
Before you start
Three checks for your Bulgarian passport
Read the passport’s Latin spelling
A Cyrillic name can be transliterated in different ways. Use the spelling already issued in the travel document rather than creating a new one.
Choose the correct visa process
A consular list with original documents and photographs does not automatically describe the uploads for a short e-Visa application.
Allow working days for Standard
Three working days are not the same as three calendar days. Prepare the complete application before measuring the processing window.

Azerbaijan e-Visa prices for Bulgarian applicants
Choose around your intended arrival in Azerbaijan. Both packages cover the same single-entry e-Visa and permitted stay, with different processing options.
Standard e-Visa
$59USD / applicant
3 working days
For travel planned ahead. Allow extra time for document checks, public holidays and any requests for clarification.
Apply Standard — $59Urgent e-Visa
$99USD / applicant
3-hour processing option
For a nearer departure. The urgent option operates on weekends and holidays; complete and accurate documents still matter.
Apply Urgent — $99Each price is the total evis.az package price for one applicant. Published processing windows apply after a complete visa application is submitted. Preparation, corrections and requests for information can take additional time. Azerbaijan's authorities decide approval and entry.

Use the passport spelling instead of re-transliterating your name
Place the passport identity page beside the application and read its surname and given-name labels. Use the Latin spelling printed in that document as the basis for review. An English spelling used in an email address, social profile or earlier booking can differ; do not treat it as authority for a new passport identity.
The passport number is not your EGN or a number copied from the Bulgarian identity card. Enter the travel document’s number from the page being uploaded. Check both dates as well: the issue date is not the expiry date, and a saved image from before renewal can contain the wrong number even when the name is unchanged.
For a child or a traveller with a changed surname, compare the actual current passport and booking before paying. Where the names do not map clearly to the required fields, resolve the entry rather than shortening a name or substituting an informal spelling.
Keep the e-Visa upload separate from an embassy checklist
The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry country page discusses electronic visas alongside consular procedures and lists different passport categories. Read the relevant part for your own document and purpose. Diplomatic or service-passport arrangements are not exemptions for an ordinary Bulgarian passport.
For this online form, prepare a readable passport identity-page image and the requested traveller, travel, accommodation and contact information. Do not add a requirement for paper originals or two separate photographs merely because those appear in a consular checklist. An uploaded passport cover or identity card is not the requested biodata page.
The same Bulgarian advice directs multiple-entry or long-term visa needs to the Azerbaijani representation. If the trip involves repeated arrivals, work or another category of stay, settle that route before purchasing a routine single-entry package.

Count processing from a complete application and the real arrival
Standard is $59 USD per applicant with a three-working-day processing window. Urgent is a separate $99 USD total with a three-hour option operating on weekends and holidays. A weekend or public holiday can affect Standard planning, so do not convert its window into an unconditional 72-hour promise.
Read the final flight segment into Azerbaijan and use the local arrival when choosing when the visa should start. Leave time for document preparation, any correction request and checking the result before departure. Payment or a saved application reference does not replace the issued visa.
The package amounts on this page are evis.az service totals in USD. They should not be confused with a government-fee example, a consular charge or an unlabelled local-currency amount from another source. Review the selected package and actual charge currency before payment.
Check passport expiry, print the visa and confirm registration
Bulgarian guidance states that the passport should remain valid at least three months beyond the visa validity. Check that end date rather than relying on the return date of a short holiday. A 90-day e-Visa window does not grant a 90-day stay; the usual permitted stay is up to 30 days within the issued dates.
The guidance also describes receiving the electronic result by email and presenting a printout with the passport. Check name, number and dates on the actual PDF, then print the right document for each traveller. Children need separate passport-based applications.
For a stay exceeding 15 days, confirm place-of-stay registration with the hotel or private host. Visa issuance and a reservation do not establish that the host has completed registration. Keep any confirmation accessible separately from the visa.
Keep these to hand
Your Bulgarian passport application checklist
- Ordinary Bulgarian passport and its current identity-page image.
- Latin-script surname and given names checked as printed.
- Passport number read independently of EGN and identity-card records.
- Travel purpose and single-entry itinerary matched to the electronic route.
- Arrival, passport expiry, accommodation and reachable email reviewed.
- Working-day allowance and the USD package total understood.
Check passport expiry against the visa's expiry date: the passport must remain valid for at least three months after that date. The 90-day visa window does not allow a 90-day stay; the maximum stay is 30 days.
Prepare a readable passport image and the details in the full document and passport checklist.

Questions from Bulgarian travellers
Should I translate my Bulgarian name myself for the e-Visa?
Use the Latin spelling already printed in the passport as the basis for the application review. Do not create a different transliteration from a Cyrillic name or rely on an informal account spelling.
Do I need the original documents and two photos from an embassy checklist?
Check which visa route the checklist describes. This electronic form requests the passport identity-page image and the specified application details. Consular originals and photograph requirements should not automatically be added to that list.
Does a Bulgarian ordinary passport have the same exemption as a service passport?
No such exemption should be assumed. Bulgarian country advice distinguishes the passport categories and states that ordinary passport holders need a visa. Confirm arrangements individually for a non-ordinary document.
Is Standard processing always 72 hours after I pay?
No. The published Standard window is three working days for a complete submitted application. Preparation, corrections, weekends and public holidays can affect when a traveller is ready to depart. Urgent is a separate three-hour processing option.
Can I show only the email confirming that I applied?
Travel with the issued visa rather than treating an application receipt as permission. Bulgarian advice describes printing the electronic visa and presenting it with the passport; inspect its identity and dates first.
What are the Standard and Urgent package prices for Bulgarian applicants?
The Standard package is $59 USD per applicant; Urgent is $99 USD per applicant. These are the total evis.az application service package prices. Choose either package to carry its processing option and total into the application form.
