Azerbaijan e-Visa for Canadian Citizens
Plan your Azerbaijan application around your Canadian travel document, not just your departure date. Check remaining passport validity and blank pages, confirm your arrival in Baku, and compare the two USD package totals before entering the form.

The short answer
Do Canadians need a visa to visit Azerbaijan?
Canadian ordinary passport holders normally need a visa and are eligible for Azerbaijan’s e-Visa route. For an eligible short visit, the electronic visa allows one entry and up to 30 days within a 90-day validity window. Canadian residence alone does not establish this eligibility: use the nationality and document with which you will travel.
Before you start
Three checks for your Canadian passport
Check six months and blank pages
Canada’s travel advice lists six months beyond arrival and two blank pages for a regular Canadian passport. Do this before choosing a processing speed.
Identify your document category
A temporary passport, emergency document or refugee travel document needs an individual check; Canadian residence is not a substitute for passport nationality.
Read the currency beside the price
The Standard $59 and Urgent $99 package totals are in USD, not CAD. Review checkout currency and your card issuer’s conversion separately.

For travel planned ahead. Allow extra time for document checks, public holidays and any requests for clarification.
Apply Standard — $59Urgent e-Visa

Apply Urgent — $99Each price is the total evis.az package price for one applicant. Published processing windows apply after a complete visa application is submitted. Preparation, corrections and requests for information can take additional time. Azerbaijan's authorities decide approval and entry.

Check Canada’s six-month guidance as well as the e-Visa rule
The Canadian government’s Azerbaijan advice states that a regular passport should be valid for at least six months beyond arrival and have two blank pages for stamps. The e-Visa conditions separately require validity extending three months beyond the visa expiry. These use different reference dates, so check both rather than counting only to the end of your hotel booking.
If renewal is necessary, complete it before building the application around the replacement number. A faster visa package does not renew a passport or provide extra blank pages. For a document close to either limit, ask the airline and the relevant Azerbaijani representation about acceptance before relying on a successful online form check.
A Canadian passport, PR card and emergency document are different things
This guide concerns ordinary Canadian passport holders. A permanent resident of Canada travelling on another country’s passport should select that passport nationality. A PR card establishes Canadian immigration status; it should not be uploaded in place of the travel document’s identity page or used as its passport number.
Canada warns that temporary passports and emergency documents can face different rules. Its advice also flags possible difficulties where a destination or carrier does not recognise an X gender identifier. If your document or identity marker is not represented accurately in the available form options, ask before paying. Do not choose an inaccurate identity merely to get past a required field.
Start with Canada already selected.
Use the local arrival after your international connection
A trip leaving Canada on one date can reach Azerbaijan the next day or later. Read the arrival shown on the final flight into Baku and use that date when selecting when the visa should start. Check the return as well: a change to the connection may alter the local departure or arrival without changing the date you first leave home.
Use the travel purpose that describes the visit. A short electronic visit permission is not a work permit, a residence document or proof of eligibility for a long study programme. If the journey depends on a different visa category or repeated entries, resolve that route before purchasing a short-stay package.
Compare the complete USD package instead of a CAD assumption
The evis.az Standard total is $59 USD per applicant; the Urgent total is $99 USD. Urgent is its own package, not a surcharge added to Standard. For a couple, review two applicant records and their combined total, as well as any card issuer’s own currency-conversion charges.
Choose Standard around its three-working-day processing window, leaving preparation time before submission. Urgent has a three-hour processing option including weekends and holidays, but an incomplete passport image or inconsistent identity still needs correction. Read the actual charge currency and amount in the payment review; an amount shown in dollars should not be assumed to be Canadian dollars.
Prepare family applications and onward travel separately
Create an individual application for each traveller, including a child. Check the child’s expiry date independently of the adults’ documents. Keep each passport image and returned PDF paired with the right person, even when the same email address is used to organise the trip.
After issuance, compare the permitted entry dates and stay with the itinerary and print the visa. A side trip outside Azerbaijan followed by a return is another entry, not a continuation of an unused single-entry permission. If remaining in Azerbaijan for more than 15 days, confirm place-of-stay registration with the host or accommodation provider; receiving a visa does not complete it.
Keep these to hand
Your Canadian passport application checklist
- Regular Canadian passport and a clear identity-page image.
- Six-month arrival guidance and two blank pages checked.
- Passport validity also compared with the e-Visa expiry date.
- Any temporary-document or unmatched identity-field issue resolved.
- Baku arrival date, true travel purpose and accommodation address.
- A monitored inbox and the USD package total understood before payment.
Check passport expiry against the visa's expiry date: the passport must remain valid for at least three months after that date. The 90-day visa window does not allow a 90-day stay; the maximum stay is 30 days.
Prepare a readable passport image and the details in the full document and passport checklist.

Questions from Canadian travellers
Can a Canadian permanent resident apply as Canadian?
Select the nationality of the passport being used. Permanent residence in Canada does not make a non-Canadian passport Canadian, and a PR card is not the passport identity page required for the application.
How much passport validity should Canadian travellers check?
Canada’s advice lists six months beyond arrival and two blank pages for regular passports. Also check the e-Visa rule requiring at least three months beyond visa expiry. Resolve a document near a limit with the airline and relevant representation.
Are the $59 Standard and $99 Urgent packages priced in CAD?
No. The published evis.az totals are USD per applicant. Review the actual checkout currency and charge before payment; a Canadian card issuer may make its own currency conversion and apply its own fees.
Can I use this routine form with a temporary Canadian passport?
Do not assume ordinary-passport guidance applies. Canadian advice says temporary passports and emergency travel documents can have different entry rules. Confirm the correct visa arrangement for the exact document before paying.
What if my passport identifier does not match the gender options in the form?
Ask for clarification before submitting or paying. Canada flags possible restrictions for passports with an X identifier; do not enter inaccurate identity information simply to continue through an incompatible form.
What are the Standard and Urgent package prices for Canadian applicants?
The Standard package is $59 USD per applicant; Urgent is $99 USD per applicant. These are the total evis.az application service package prices. Choose either package to carry its processing option and total into the application form.
