Azerbaijan e-Visa for Dutch Citizens

Prepare your Azerbaijan visit using your Dutch passport rather than the ID card you may carry on European trips. Check the document number, passport expiry and travel dates together. If you are renewing a passport or arranging a family holiday, settle those details before starting.

The short answer

Do Dutch citizens need an Azerbaijan e-Visa?

Dutch ordinary passport holders normally need a visa to visit Azerbaijan and are eligible for the electronic visa route. A Dutch ID card or residence document does not replace the passport needed for this journey. For an ordinary short visit, prepare the application using the same passport that you will carry when travelling.

Before you start

Three checks for your Dutch passport

01

Use a paspoort

Dutch travel guidance requires a valid passport for Azerbaijan. Prepare its details even if your ID card is your usual document for travel within Europe.

02

Distinguish documentnummer from BSN

A passport document number and a burgerservicenummer identify different things. Enter the requested passport number rather than substituting your personal BSN.

03

Complete renewal before applying

If a new passport will be used for the trip, prepare the visa from that issued document. Do not mix its details with an image of the old one.

Choose your processing option

Azerbaijan e-Visa prices for Dutch applicants

Choose around your intended arrival in Azerbaijan. Both packages cover the same single-entry e-Visa and permitted stay, with different processing options.

Standard e-Visa

$59USD / applicant

3 working days

For travel planned ahead. Allow extra time for document checks, public holidays and any requests for clarification.

Apply Standard — $59

Urgent e-Visa

$99USD / applicant

3-hour processing option

For a nearer departure. The urgent option operates on weekends and holidays; complete and accurate documents still matter.

Apply Urgent — $99

Each price is the total evis.az package price for one applicant. Published processing windows apply after a complete visa application is submitted. Preparation, corrections and requests for information can take additional time. Azerbaijan's authorities decide approval and entry.

Choose the right Dutch travel document

A Dutch passport and identity card are not interchangeable for every destination. The Netherlands' travel guidance specifies a passport and visa for Azerbaijan. Have the passport available before completing the document fields.

A traveller living in the Netherlands on another country's passport should use that passport nationality. Dutch residence, a local address or a BSN does not establish Dutch citizenship. If an emergency, refugee or other non-standard travel document will be used, check the relevant visa arrangement before treating it as an ordinary Dutch passport.

Keep your documentnummer separate from your BSN

Dutch government information lists the document number and BSN separately among identity-document details. For the passport number field, read the number of the travel document itself. Do not copy a BSN from a saved personal record simply because it is the number you use in Dutch administrative services.

Check names in the same sitting. Include the surname and given names shown in the passport rather than an informal name. If prefixes or a name change create doubt, settle the correct entry before submission.

Review renewal plans against the entire visa period

The Dutch travel advice says your passport must remain valid for at least three months after the visa's end date. Looking only at the date your holiday finishes can miss that requirement. Compare the passport expiry with the intended visa dates before you decide the document has enough time left.

If renewing before the journey, use the replacement passport once issued. Recheck any flight profile storing the previous number. Keep the uploaded image, application details and passport being carried consistent.

Prepare each child's documents individually

Dutch guidance states that children also need their own valid passport and visa for Azerbaijan. Build a separate document checklist for every child instead of assuming a parent's visa covers the family. Compare each date of birth with that child's passport before reviewing the group itinerary.

If a child travels with one parent or another accompanying adult, check the parental-authority and consent documents relevant to the journey. These travel arrangements are separate from the e-Visa. Families with Dutch and Azerbaijani nationality should clarify their circumstances before relying on ordinary foreign-visitor guidance.

Check your route and accommodation before departure

Use the local arrival date for Azerbaijan when preparing the application. If the itinerary includes a visit to another country and a return to Baku, review the additional entry before booking. The date window printed on a single-entry visa is not permission for repeated arrivals.

Dutch advice currently describes restrictions at land borders, so confirm any proposed overland itinerary separately. For a stay exceeding 15 days, arrange place-of-stay registration with the accommodation provider or through the appropriate process. Ask who will complete it when staying in a private apartment rather than a hotel.

Keep these to hand

Your Dutch passport application checklist

  • Your Dutch passport, with any planned renewal completed.
  • The passport document number checked separately from your BSN.
  • Passport expiry compared with the end of the intended visa period.
  • A separate passport and application check for every child.
  • Arrival dates, accommodation details and a monitored email address.

Check passport expiry against the visa's expiry date: the passport must remain valid for at least three months after that date. The 90-day visa window does not allow a 90-day stay; the maximum stay is 30 days.

Prepare a readable passport image and the details in the full document and passport checklist.

Questions from Dutch travellers

Can I apply with my Dutch ID card instead of a passport?

Use a valid passport. Dutch travel guidance requires a passport for Azerbaijan, even if a Dutch ID card is sufficient for other journeys you regularly make.

Is the passport number the same as my BSN?

No. Your document number and burgerservicenummer are separate identifiers. Use the current passport document number in a field asking for passport details.

Does each Dutch child need an individual visa?

Dutch guidance says children also require a valid passport and visa. Check each child's document and application separately rather than relying on the accompanying adult's visa.

What if I replace my Dutch passport before travelling?

Review the visa arrangement using the replacement document. An e-Visa issued using one passport should not be assumed valid when a different passport is presented for the journey.

What are the Standard and Urgent package prices for Dutch applicants?

The Standard package is $59 USD per applicant; Urgent is $99 USD per applicant. These are the total evis.az application service package prices. Choose either package to carry its processing option and total into the application form.
