Do French citizens need an e-Visa for Azerbaijan?
French ordinary passport holders normally require a visa for Azerbaijan and can apply for an e-Visa online. The electronic route is for a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days within its 90-day window. A French identity card, European residence status or permission to visit a neighbouring country does not replace the required passport and visa.

France Diplomatie currently describes restrictions on land entry. A visa does not itself open a closed border or make a train itinerary available.

Leaving Azerbaijan for another country and returning is a second entry, even when both visits fit inside the visa date window.

Nom de famille, nom d’usage and given names on your passport
French documents can distinguish a family name from a name used in everyday life. Service-Public explains that a nom d’usage can be included on a passport. For a visa application, work from the actual passport identity page and its labelled surname and given-name fields, rather than assuming the name on a payment card is the required travel identity.
If marriage, a double name or several given names make the entry unclear, resolve it before submission. Keep the passport image beside the form while reviewing. A different spelling stored in a holiday account should prompt a check of the booking, not an improvised change to the passport details. Ask for help if the document and form fields do not map clearly.
A visa for Baku does not settle an overland Caucasus itinerary
The French entry advice checked for this guide states that tourist entry is by air and describes continuing restrictions at land borders. It also warns that the Baku–Tbilisi passenger train is not generally available to French and other non-exempt visitors. Treat these as route checks to repeat near departure, since border arrangements can change.
If you are combining Azerbaijan with Georgia or Armenia, plan each border and flight separately. Permission to enter one country does not establish entry into another. In particular, do not pay for a visa on the assumption that a planned land crossing must therefore be possible. Check the transport and entry arrangement first, then choose the appropriate visa dates.

Build a single-entry trip around the dates you will actually use
The 90-day validity window and the 30-day maximum stay answer different questions. The window gives the dates within which the visa may be used; it does not give three months in the country. Your arrival and departure must fit the permission on the issued document.
A Paris–Baku–Tbilisi–Baku itinerary requires a review of the return into Azerbaijan. A single-entry e-Visa is not reusable after departure simply because its printed end date has not passed. If repeated entries or a longer purpose of stay are essential, clarify the appropriate visa arrangement before choosing this package.
Check passport expiry before paying for faster processing
Use the e-Visa end date for the passport calculation: the passport must remain valid for at least three months beyond that date. A document that lasts through a one-week holiday may still fall short. Complete a planned renewal before entering the passport number and uploading the image.
Standard is $59 per applicant with a three-working-day processing window; Urgent is $99 with a three-hour option. These are evis.az package totals in USD, not euro quotations or the government fee alone. Urgent processing does not fix a name mismatch, passport expiry or an unsuitable route. Allow time to resolve those issues before departure.

France Diplomatie specifically advises checking the permitted entries, authorised length of stay and validity dates as soon as the visa is issued. Add a comparison of the passport number and traveller name. Review the actual PDF, rather than treating an application confirmation email as the travel document.
Download the visa, print it and keep access to your email during the trip. If travelling as a family, label each PDF for the correct passport holder. A child needs a separate application. For a stay exceeding 15 days, organise accommodation registration separately; a visa and a hotel reservation are not evidence that registration has already been completed.

Which name should I use if my French passport shows a nom d’usage?
Read the passport’s surname and given-name fields together with the uploaded identity page. Do not substitute a bank-card name or choose a new spelling yourself. Resolve any ambiguity in how the name fields should be entered before submission.
Does an e-Visa allow me to take a train from Tbilisi into Azerbaijan?
A visa does not override border or passenger restrictions. French travel advice currently describes limits on land entry and on access to the Baku–Tbilisi passenger service. Recheck the specific route before booking or applying around it.
Can I visit Georgia and then return to Baku on one e-Visa?
