The short answer
Do Greek citizens need an Azerbaijan e-Visa?
Greek ordinary passport holders normally need a visa to visit Azerbaijan and are eligible for an e-Visa online. The usual electronic visa covers a single entry and up to 30 days within a 90-day window. Use the passport for this trip and its issued Latin identity fields, rather than relying on European identity-card travel arrangements.
Before you start
Three checks for your Greek passport
Follow the issued Latin spelling
Greek consular information explains the ELOT 743 transliteration framework. Your issued passport, rather than a fresh online conversion, is the document being matched.
Use the passport number
An identity-card number or tax identifier should not replace the passport number read from the uploaded page.
Check dates in Azerbaijan
The local arrival into Azerbaijan and the visa start must agree, including after a connection or flight change.

Greek characters, ELOT 743 and the name on the issued passport
Greek consular passport guidance explains that Latin renderings of Greek names follow the ELOT 743 framework, and the National Passport Centre publishes a transliteration tool. For an existing passport, however, the task is to match the document already issued, not to choose a new spelling from a converter.
Read the surname and given-name entries and follow the Latin spelling in the passport’s machine-readable lines, as the form requests. An everyday Greeklish spelling in email, a social account or an old ticket can differ. Compare any discrepancy with the current passport before submitting instead of creating a different Latin version because it looks more familiar.
If a legal name change or a passport replacement is underway, settle which issued document will be carried. Where the form and passport fields do not map clearly, ask before paying rather than dropping part of a compound name or entering a placeholder identity.
Use a passport rather than reusing a European identity-card record
Prepare the identity page of the passport intended for Azerbaijan. A Greek identity card used for another accepted journey should not supply the passport image or number here. AFM or another personal identifier likewise answers a different question from the travel-document number.
Check document dates from the same page. A saved scan from an earlier passport can be wrong even if the traveller and name are the same. If the document is emergency, diplomatic, service or otherwise non-standard, confirm the applicable arrangement separately instead of assuming ordinary-passport guidance applies.
Start with Greece already selected.
Plan the arrival and compare complete USD package prices
Use the local arrival date in Azerbaijan from your actual itinerary. A connection after departure from Athens, Thessaloniki or another airport can move that date. If flights change after a visa is issued, compare the revised arrival and departure with the printed permission before travelling.
Standard costs $59 USD per applicant with a three-working-day processing window. Urgent is $99 USD in total, with a three-hour option including weekends and holidays. These are USD service package totals, not EUR prices. Urgent is a separate package, not a surcharge added to Standard.
Have the readable passport page, accommodation address and reachable email ready before starting the processing clock in your plans. Preparation or corrections can add time. Wait for the actual visa result and inspect the PDF; a payment confirmation or application reference is not the issued travel permission.
Check the visa window before adding another country to the trip
The e-Visa requires a passport valid at least three months beyond the visa expiry. That end date can be later than the return from a short holiday. The 90-day validity window does not allow a 90-day stay: the usual maximum is up to 30 days within the issued dates.
If the itinerary leaves Azerbaijan and returns to Baku, assess the return entry before purchasing transport. A single-entry visa cannot be reused because it still shows future dates. Border access and transit arrangements also require their own checks; a visa does not confirm that a particular overland route is available.
Match every printed visa to the correct family passport
Prepare a separate application for each child and adult. Review the Latin names, passport image and document number person by person, even when one email address organises the whole family. A shared booking does not mean one adult’s visa covers everyone.
Print the issued visa for each matching passport after checking entry dates and permitted stay. Keep access to the delivery inbox during travel. For a stay over 15 days, confirm place-of-stay registration with the accommodation provider separately from the visa and hotel reservation.

Your Greek passport application checklist
- The current Greek passport and a clear identity-page image.
- Latin surname and given names copied from the issued document.
- Passport number checked separately from identity-card and tax identifiers.
- Local Azerbaijan arrival and visa-end-date passport validity checked.
- Accommodation address and an email accessible during the journey.
- Individual family records and the selected USD total reviewed.
Check passport expiry against the visa's expiry date: the passport must remain valid for at least three months after that date. The 90-day visa window does not allow a 90-day stay; the maximum stay is 30 days.
Prepare a readable passport image and the details in the full document and passport checklist.

Questions from Greek travellers
Should I use a new Greek-to-Latin conversion for the application?
Match the Latin name already printed in the issued passport. A converter explains a transliteration framework; it should not be used to replace the document’s spelling with a different version.
What if my flight booking uses a different Greeklish name?
Compare the booking with the current passport and resolve the difference before submitting the visa details. Do not change the passport identity in the application merely to make an informal spelling agree.
Can I use a Greek identity card or AFM as the passport details?
No. Prepare the passport identity page and its document number for this route. An identity-card number or AFM identifies a different record and does not replace the passport field.
Does the Urgent price mean $99 added to the Standard package?
No. Urgent is its own $99 USD total per applicant. Standard is $59 USD. Review the chosen package and actual charge currency before payment.
Does an e-Visa cover a later return to Azerbaijan after another country?
The usual e-Visa is single-entry. A later arrival after leaving requires an appropriate entry arrangement even if days remain in the original visa window.
What are the Standard and Urgent package prices for Greek applicants?
The Standard package is $59 USD per applicant; Urgent is $99 USD per applicant. These are the total evis.az application service package prices. Choose either package to carry its processing option and total into the application form.
