Do Hungarian citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan?
Hungarian ordinary passport holders normally need a visa and are eligible for Azerbaijan’s e-Visa route. Use a regular passport, not the identity card used on many European trips. A standard short-visit e-Visa permits one entry and up to 30 days within its 90-day validity window.

Magánútlevél, személyi igazolvány and temporary documents
The Hungarian consular Azerbaijan page distinguishes the regular passport from national identity cards and temporary passports. Its document table lists the regular passport as accepted and the temporary-passport and identity-card options as not accepted. Do not start this routine application from a card merely because it was enough for a recent European journey.
Use the passport identity-page number and image. A personal identifier, address card or previous document number should not replace it. If the only available document is temporary, emergency, diplomatic or service-related, clarify the correct entry arrangement individually rather than selecting ordinary passport to force the application through.
Why Hungarian travellers should check the stricter expiry advice
The Hungarian advice checked for this guide specifies at least six months of passport validity after visa expiry and two blank pages. Azerbaijan’s general e-Visa condition uses at least three months after expiry. Those statements should not be merged into an invented universal rule or treated as permission to ignore the stricter Hungarian advice.
If your passport falls between the two thresholds, confirm current acceptance with the airline and relevant representation before paying. Where renewal is planned, use the replacement once issued. Choosing Urgent changes processing speed; it does not resolve passport validity, missing pages or an unsupported document category.

Map Hungarian names to surname and given-name fields
Read the labels on the passport identity page rather than entering a full name in the order used in an email signature. Match the surname entry to the surname field and the given-name entry to given names. If several given names are printed, review them together instead of keeping only the one used socially.
Check any married-name or earlier-name issue against the current travel document. Do not use an old scan to decide the spelling on a replacement passport. When the form asks separately for place of birth and residence, answer those questions separately too: birthplace, nationality and the address where you now live are not interchangeable.
Plan Budapest departures around a complete application
Use the local arrival date in Azerbaijan from the actual itinerary, whether the journey is direct or involves a connection. Do not assume a route or frequency from an old timetable. Compare the intended arrival with the visa start date and leave time to receive and review the result before departure.
Standard is $59 USD per applicant with a three-working-day processing window. Urgent is a separate $99 total with a three-hour option operating on weekends and holidays. These are not HUF quotations. Processing begins from a complete submitted application; preparation, corrections or requests for information can require additional time.
Check the stay and every traveller before departure
The normal e-Visa is single-entry with a maximum stay of up to 30 days, not a 90-day residence permission. If leaving Azerbaijan and returning during a wider trip, review the second entry in advance. A passport’s long remaining validity does not enlarge the visa’s entry count or permitted stay.
A family should prepare a separate passport record and application for each child. Once issued, inspect each PDF for the name, passport number, entry window and stay, and print it with the matching passport. For visits exceeding 15 days, arrange place-of-stay registration with the host or accommodation provider rather than assuming the visa process completes that step.

Check passport expiry against the visa's expiry date: the passport must remain valid for at least three months after that date. The 90-day visa window does not allow a 90-day stay; the maximum stay is 30 days.

The advice checked on 7 November 2026 does specify that period and two blank pages. The general e-Visa condition uses three months beyond visa expiry. Resolve any difference affecting your passport with the airline and relevant representation before paying.
Can I apply on an ideiglenes útlevél?
Do not use this ordinary-passport guide as confirmation for a temporary passport. The Hungarian document table marks that option as not accepted. Clarify your travel-document arrangement before selecting a visa package.
Should a Hungarian full name be entered in its usual written order?
Follow the passport’s surname and given-name labels, not the position of words in an email signature or an unlabelled full name. Resolve an unclear married-name or document discrepancy before submission.
Does urgent processing change the document requirements for Hungarians?
No. It is a faster processing option with its own package total. It does not waive passport validity, blank-page or document-category requirements, and it cannot correct inaccurate identity information on its own.
