Iranian ordinary-passport holders are eligible to apply for an Azerbaijan e-Visa before travelling. Prepare the Latin-script details and dates from your passport, a readable photo-page image and your intended arrival. Check current entry arrangements carefully if an older travel guide suggests that an airport visa is automatic.

The short answer
Should Iranian tourists arrange an Azerbaijan visa in advance?
Yes. For an Iranian ordinary-passport holder without a separate entry exception, an advance visa is the appropriate route; Iran is eligible for an e-Visa. The current central airport-visa list does not include Iranian nationality. Older descriptions of a general airport visa should not be used as your travel plan. Consular and qualifying residence-permit arrangements are separate routes.

Read the Latin-script identity fields and confirm the calendar used for each date. Do not copy a Solar Hijri date into a Gregorian date field.
Keep nationality and residence distinct
An Iranian passport remains Iranian when its holder lives abroad. A foreign residence permit may affect the entry route, but does not change passport nationality.

Check the current route instead of historic airport advice
Some older travel material describes a visa issued to Iranian citizens at Azerbaijan's airports. The current central foreign-ministry airport-visa list does not include Iran. For an ordinary tourist who has no separate exemption, prepare an advance visa rather than arriving on the assumption that the old nationality-based arrangement still applies.
A qualifying overseas residence permit or specific authorised travel category may provide another route. Check its exact conditions before relying on it. Appearing on the online e-Visa eligibility list does not automatically establish airport-visa eligibility.
Review Gregorian dates and the passport identity page
Keep the passport photo page in view when entering the date of birth, issue date and expiry date. The application uses a Gregorian date picker. Confirm the day, month and year against the corresponding passport date instead of copying a date from a Persian-calendar reminder, identity record or message.
Check the Latin-script spelling of every name separately from the Persian spelling. Avoid making your own transliteration when the passport already provides one. The passport number should come from the travel document, not a national identity card or another official record. If a date or name is unclear, resolve it before submitting rather than estimating.

Applying abroad or travelling with another nationality
Select Iran when using an Iranian passport for the application and Azerbaijan journey. Enter your actual overseas residential address separately. Do not enter a residence-card number as the passport number or confuse a temporary visit with residence.
If you also hold another nationality, decide which passport will be used for Azerbaijan entry and assess that document's rules. Do not apply with one passport and assume the result is valid with the other. Requirements for leaving your departure country or transiting a third country also need their own check; an Azerbaijan visa does not settle those questions.
Finish the document review before making travel assumptions
Prepare the expected Azerbaijan entry date, accommodation address and an email you can monitor during the journey. A visa application does not confirm that a specific land crossing, flight or other transport service is available. Verify the actual route with the carrier and relevant authorities separately from completing the form.
Open the passport image at full size and check its edges, number and dates. For a family visit, compare each file with that person's application. Leave time to resolve discrepancies. Before departure, review the issued visa against the same passport and retain its printed copy.

Check passport expiry against the visa's expiry date: the passport must remain valid for at least three months after that date. The 90-day visa window does not allow a 90-day stay; the maximum stay is 30 days.

Questions from Iranian travellers
Can an Iranian passport holder apply for an Azerbaijan e-Visa?
Yes. Iran is included in the eligible nationality list. Use the passport that will accompany your Azerbaijan trip and check that your purpose and planned stay fit the selected application route.
Can I rely on an old guide saying Iranians receive airport visas?
No. Current central guidance does not list Iran among the nationalities with a general airport-visa arrangement. Check any personal exception separately and arrange an advance visa where needed.
Should I enter a Persian-calendar date of birth?
The form uses Gregorian dates. Confirm the Gregorian date recorded for your passport identity details; do not enter a Solar Hijri year into the Gregorian field. Seek clarification if the document's dates are unclear.
Does an Iranian e-Visa application confirm that a land border is open?
No. Visa eligibility and the operation of an entry point are separate matters. Verify your specific route before making travel arrangements, even if you already hold a visa.
What are the Standard and Urgent package prices for Iranian applicants?
