Which Latvian travel-document situation applies to you?

The Latvian term nepilsonis refers to a particular status; it should not be used loosely to mean every foreign resident in Latvia. Latvia’s Azerbaijan advice distinguishes citizens and non-citizens when stating the visa requirement. A passport issued by Latvia should therefore be read for its actual status rather than assuming that the issuing-country name alone settles the case.

This article’s routine application guidance concerns ordinary Latvian citizen passports. If you hold a non-citizen, stateless, refugee or another non-standard document, confirm the precise electronic or consular arrangement with the relevant representation before payment. This is a document-specific check, not a claim that every non-citizen is ineligible for every electronic route.

A resident of Latvia using a different country’s passport should assess that passport instead. Do not change nationality or describe yourself as a Latvian citizen simply to match a country option in a form. Read each field’s wording and resolve an unclear category before submission.

Read the printed name and document number for each traveller

Keep the current identity page alongside the application. Map surname and given names from their labels, including the document’s actual spelling. A nickname, translated account name or old booking record should not supply a new version of the passport identity.

Use the passport number rather than a personal code or a number from an identity card. If a passport was renewed, replace the old scan and saved number together. For family applications, compare each person’s names independently; similar names and a shared email can make it easier to attach the wrong page to a record.

Check expiry against the visa window, not only the holiday

Azerbaijan’s e-Visa condition requires the passport to remain valid at least three months after visa expiry. The planned departure from a short visit is not necessarily the same date. Use the visa end date in the passport calculation, and clarify a document near a limit before choosing a processing speed.

For the usual electronic visa, the window is 90 days and the maximum stay is up to 30 days within the issued dates. It is single-entry. If a wider trip includes departure to another country and a return to Baku, review the second arrival separately rather than relying on days still visible in the first visa window.

Choose the start date from the local arrival on the final flight into Azerbaijan, including any overnight connection. Check the revised arrival again if the itinerary changes before departure.

Choose the package after settling document status

Standard is $59 USD per applicant, with a three-working-day processing window. Urgent is $99 USD in total, with a three-hour option available during weekends and holidays. The amounts are not EUR quotations. A faster option does not settle an unclear citizenship or travel-document category.

Before checkout, review the passport details, accommodation address, arrival and selected package. After a visa is issued, inspect the actual PDF and print it for the matching passport. An email acknowledging an application is not the visa result itself.

For a stay exceeding 15 days, confirm the current place-of-stay registration procedure with the accommodation provider or relevant migration service. Keep any registration confirmation separate from the visa. Neither payment for the visa service nor a hotel reservation proves that registration has been completed.
