Yes. South Africa is on the e-Visa eligibility list, and ordinary South African passport holders normally need a visa for Azerbaijan. Start with the travelling passport, its identity-page image and your stay details. For children, also check South African departure requirements for the actual accompanying adults.

Which South African identity details belong in the e-Visa?
Keep the passport book open at the identity page while completing the form. Enter the passport number from that page, not the 13-digit South African identity number. Surname, given names, issue date and expiry should all refer to this same document.
A South African address or permanent residence does not settle eligibility for someone using a different nationality’s passport. Dual nationals should decide which passport will be used for Azerbaijan and keep that choice consistent through the application and journey. Do not combine one passport’s nationality with another passport’s number.
Upload the full identity page as a readable JPG, JPEG or PNG, within the displayed 10 MB limit. Include the machine-readable lines and avoid glare across the name or number. Bank statements, an ID-card image and a separate portrait are not substitutes for the passport-page upload requested here.
A child’s visa and South African departure papers are separate
Create an individual passport record for each child and check the resulting visa against that child’s document. Sharing a parent’s email or hotel booking does not make the parent’s visa cover the child. Keep the correct image attached to each record when preparing several applications together.
For departure preparation, establish whether the child travels with both parents, one parent, a guardian or another adult. South African government guidance distinguishes parental consent and supporting documents by circumstances. Its civic-services guidance states that a birth certificate is not required where the child’s passport contains the parents’ particulars.
Do not turn that exception into a blanket rule for every child passport. Confirm the current document list for the child’s actual passport and accompanying adults with the relevant authority and airline. Resolve custody or consent questions before departure rather than assuming that an issued Azerbaijan visa answers them.
These are travel-preparation checks, not extra routine uploads added to this e-Visa form. Keep any required departure documents ready for the journey; do not replace the child’s identity-page image with a birth certificate or consent letter.

Standard costs $59 USD per applicant; the total Urgent package is $99 USD. These amounts are not rand quotations and the site does not promise a fixed ZAR conversion. Review the selected USD total and any conversion information shown during checkout before paying.
The normal processing window is three working days. Urgent offers three-hour processing including weekends and holidays. Count from a complete application, leaving time to correct unreadable scans or inaccurate details; a Friday application should not be planned as if Standard means three calendar days.
For a connecting flight from South Africa, use the local arrival date in Azerbaijan, not departure from Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban. Revisit the chosen start date when an overnight connection or flight change moves the final arrival.
Check the document’s life beyond the visa and read the issued result
The passport must remain valid at least three months beyond the e-Visa’s expiry. Compare the passport against the visa window rather than only the end of a short holiday. If renewal is necessary, apply with the new passport and matching scan; carrying an old visa beside a different passport should not be assumed sufficient.
The usual e-Visa is single-entry with up to a 30-day stay in its 90-day validity period. A side trip followed by a second arrival needs a separate entry assessment. List the full accommodation address and keep the receiving email accessible during travel.
Before checkout, compare the summary with the passport and itinerary. After issuance, inspect and print the actual PDF for each person. An application confirmation or payment message records a stage of the process; use the visa document itself to check the authorised dates and matching identity.

Is my 13-digit South African ID number the passport number?
No. Enter the passport number printed on the passport identity page being uploaded. A national identity number belongs to a different document field.
Must every South African child carry a birth certificate?
Do not assume one rule covers every passport and family situation. Government civic-services guidance identifies an exception when the child’s passport includes the parents’ particulars. Check the current requirements for the actual document and accompanying adults.
Does an Azerbaijan e-Visa remove parental-consent requirements?
No. A destination visa does not resolve South African departure, custody or parental-consent requirements. Check those separately before the child travels.
Should I upload a child’s birth certificate instead of the passport page?
No. This application asks for the traveller’s passport identity page. Any departure documents required for the child are separate travel paperwork, not a replacement for that upload.
